George Hartpence has been a member of the company since 1990.  He also appears regularly at the ActorsNET of Bucks County in Morrisville, PA.  Some of his favorite Shakespearean roles include: the title roles in Macbeth, Hamlet, and Richard III, Prospero in The Tempest, Brutus in Julius Caesar, Antony in Antony and Cleopatra, Orsino in Twelfth Night, Mercutio in Romeo and Juliet, Hotspur in Henry IV Part One, Edmund in King Lear, and Antonio in The Merchant of Venice.  Some non-Shakespearean role favorites include; Dr. Astrov in Uncle Vanya, Lord Goring in An Ideal Husband, Algernon in The Importance of Being Earnest, Charles Condomine in Blithe Spirit, Dick Dudgeon in The Devil’s Disciple, Henry II in both Becket and The Lion in Winter, Toby in A Delicate Balance, Alan Squier in The Petrified Forest, and Sir George Croft in Mrs. Warren's Profession.  Favorite musical roles include: Henry Higgins in My Fair Lady, Captain von Trapp in The Sound of Music, King Arthur in Camelot, Fred/Petruchio in Kiss Me Kate, and Edward Rutledge in 1776.  He made his directorial debut for the ActorsNet with their 2003 production of Shaw’s Caesar and Cleopatra.  Singling out George’s performance as Dr. Astrov, this past season's Villagers’ Theatre production of Uncle Vanya was selected as one of the 12 Best Shows of  2007 by Princeton Packet critic Stuart Duncan – the seventh year George has received this distinction.  George is married to fellow S’70 company member and frequent co-star Carol Thompson, whom he first met in the S’70 1992 production of Blithe Spirit.  For more information about George, visit his website at www.georgehartpence.com.
